License

elevateIT is available under an Open Source License (The GNU General Public License (GPL)) that governs, what you can and cannot do with the elevateIT code.

Shortly summarized, it says that you can use the elevateIT code for free. However, if you are redistributing elevateIT, you have to release any changes you make to the code base back to the elevateIT community.

You can find the GPL at the GNU.ORG web site

elevateIT will not cost money in the future, neither for clients nor for developers. A company may choose to sell programs or modules based on elevateIT and ship the elevateIT source code together with their commercial product, but the elevateIT base product will always be under an Open Source license.

Likewise, it will never cost money to upgrade a current elevateIT installation.

Further information and a detailed explanation of Plone Copyright and License can be found under http://plone.org/about/copyrights/ . The mentioned points apply to elevateIT as well.

You can learn more about Open Source by reading What is Open Source?
